Bradley's Point...

Thursday, December 11, 2008

So I thought I would share a cute story. We were on our way home from church last night when we stopped off on a road with tons of Christmas lights. At one of the houses, they were giving out candy canes, so Brad got one. Just as I was about to turn onto the main road, Bradley sweetly said, "Mom, I wish I could give Jesus my candy cane, because he never gets any presents and it is HIS birthday."

I almost CRIED, and he had a point.

I told him that he can put it under the tree if he would like, and that the only present that we need to give Jesus in our trust in Him and to follow his Word.

I thought it was absolutely adorable, and summarizes the "childlike" faith we all should hold on to.

Well, tomorrow is the day...

Sunday, August 24, 2008

...that I start my "new way of eating". I refuse to call it a DIET, lol. I read up on quite a few options, and I am going to do the Weight Watchers Points system. I am alloted 20 points a day - which sounds like a lot, but this is all about healthy eating and portion control. If I make wise choices, then I will do fine. However - if I eat like I have been, I think I may only get breakfast in, haha... kind of sad really!

I am dedicated though - I am really gonna try. I have 25 stubborn pounds I want gone. I went to the store yesterday and bought healthy foods and snacks. I got a bunch of fruits and rice cakes (flavored, of course), 1% milk, fat free cheeses, low fat mayo, light margarine, etc... I am doing a complete overhaul. No more fast food. That is HUGE for me. I am a fast food junkie, because it is so convenient.

I also switched my sodas to (*gasp*) Caffeine-Free Diet Coke and Sprite Zero. You know what though - they are 0 points. This doesn't mean I am going to drink them all day every day - but it will help when I have that rare soda craving.

I guess that's all for now. Wish me luck - this is going to be really hard for me... but with support from my wonderful husband (he's doing it with me), friends/family, and help from my Lord & Savior - I know I will do fine!

'Til next time...

Back to work...!

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Yesterday marked my first day back at work since Jacob's birth eight weeks ago. It was hard to leave the house in the morning. Not because I was tired (although I was), but because he was just waking up and looked right at me - and I couldn't hold him or feed him. I had to go, so I had to wake up Hans and just walk out. It about KILLED ME!! I almost cried. But, I made it through the day. Everyone was happy to have me back, and I actually had some stuff to keep me busy, so that helped. Today Bradley & Jacob are with Grandma - I left her a page full of instructions, LOL.

Wish me luck that I will make it through the week!

Jacob's First Baseball Game

So very blessed...

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

I am having one of those moments where I just feel so very blessed to have all that it is that God has given me. I cannot atribute it to anything else but Him. I started out rough - a very troubled teenager who got pregnant at a young age - but with His help I came through everything. I don't know why He chose me - I don't deserve His love or mercy. After rededicating my life, I met the most wonderful man and we are now raising two beautiful boys. I am just in awe with how things have turned out - I am so lucky. I can't wait to see where He will lead me on this journey called "life". Wherever it may be, I will follow gladly and will continue to praise His name along the way.

Random Thought...

Saturday, July 12, 2008

Perk #316584 of not being pregnant anymore: I can now sleep on my stomach again! :o)

Sorry, thought of this when I was half-awake this morning... LoL

And now, more pictures of Jake! Hard to believe he is going to be a month old in 4 days! Time is flying by. Before I know it, he will be a year old!

Four days old...

Jacob has arrived!!

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Jacob Kristofor is here!
He was born yesterday, 6/16/2008 at 10:10am, weighing 7lbs even and 20.5 inches long!! We're at home now and wanted to update you all right away... we're doing great! His apgars were 8 and 9.
I started having contractions on Father's Day after I took my last pill. By the time Hans got home from the baseball game (Marlins vs. Rays!), they were about 4 minutes apart, so we went to the hospital. They monitored me and I was only at 2.5cm and didn't change for 2 hrs, so they sent me home to labor until they were stronger and closer together. Well 30 minute drive later, I was in bed about to go to sleep, and Jake had other plans. I felt a weird "pop", and stood up, and my water had broken ALLLLL over the floor!
We drove back to the hospital and got admitted at that point. It was about 12am. I got put in L&D and then got my epidural not too long after (I was at a 3) at about 2am. At 7am my DR decided to start pitocin to move things along, I was at a 5. By 9:45am I was complete and ready to push! It took 25 min and then he was here!

Happy Father's Day!

Sunday, June 15, 2008

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

For DH I got him a tie (LOL), and baseball tickets to see the Florida Marlins vs. the Tampa Bay [Devil] Rays. He is two rows up from the field, and about 8 seats to the right of the Marlins dugout! He & Brad are super excited. As a matter of fact, they've already left early for the game to get there for batting practice so they can get some autographs hopefully!

On a different note... I GET TO STOP TAKING THE TERBUTALINE TODAY!

I took my last pill this morning, so we will see what happens once that wears off. I wonder if I will go into labor, or if he will suddenly decide he is comfortable in there and refuse to come out. We will see! I need to finish packing my hosptital bag, and Brad's suitcase. He is going to be in church sleepaway camp all next week. Hopefully he'll return to a new baby brother!

More contractions...

Thursday, June 12, 2008

So yesterday I decided to wait to take my next dose of meds for an hour or two. One, because it makes me feel jittery, and two, because I didn’t think the contractions would come more than maybe 20 minutes apart – if that – so maybe nature could dilate me a little bit or efface me for my next appointment…

Well, I’m an idiot! They did begin coming here and there for 20 minutes, but then started slamming together at 4-8 minutes apart!!!

I took my pill immediately after I saw that and waited 40min and they were still coming. Called the DR’s office, and they said to take another pill, and if the two pills didn’t work, that I would have to go to the hospital to have my labor stopped with MORE drugs. Thankfully, the second pill worked, so no hospital for me.

However – I am guessing that once I stop taking the meds this Sunday, Jake will be VERY EAGER to leave the womb!

Another doctor's appointment...

Monday, June 9, 2008

Well I got to see my favorite doctor today - but of course another doctor was out delivering, so I had to wait an extra TWO HOURS to be seen. I talked to him about the preterm labor thing from last week, and he assured me that if Jake were to be born at 37 weeks, that studies show that his lungs are 98% guaranteed to be perfectly matured. That made me feel better. He also verified he is head down, and he estimated him to already weigh 6 - 6.5lbs! He also told me that I should stop taking the meds to stop labor on Sunday. So, we will do that and see what happens!

Well, the contractions were real!

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Just got home from the doctor's office. She checked me and I am 1cm dialated, so they hooked me up for a NST to the heart/contraction monitors. I had a few while hooked up as well, but she said they weren't THAT strong, so she feels they can be stopped with medication. She prescribed something called Terbulatine (SP?), and it's a pill I have to take once every six hours. She said it may make my heart race.... FUN! But, she said I will take this until 37 weeks (10 days), so not too long. She also said I can still work while on the medication, but otherwise take it easy. I just sit at work all day anyway, so it should be fine.

So, that's the update! DH just went to drop off the prescription. Jake may actually be here in 10 days... I'm so nervous!!!

Contractions...

Well, I am having some pretty consistant "Braxton Hicks" contractions right now, since 7:42am this morning as a matter of fact. I've always had them for the past several weeks, but they would come very sporatically - like 30 minutes here, an hour and a half there, then another in 10 minutes, then another in 2 hours... nothing consistant at all, and nothing painful.

The ones I am having right now were not that painful, but now kind of stop me in my tracks a little bit. And they are coming between 8 minutes apart at the shortest, and 25min at the longest. Here is my track: 8m, 15m, 13m, 14m, 12m, 15m, 17m, 25m, 18m, 13m, 8m, 8m, 18m, 14m, 18m, 15m, 18m. If this makes any sense!

I finally called my doctor and asked what they thought. I got the questions about "Have I done anything strenuous?", "Having I been drinking plenty of water?", etc... I have been sitting around the past two days and lying around when I am not sitting around! LOL - and I have been drinking a lot of water this morning since all this started. So, they asked me to come in at 1:45am to get checked out.

I hope this isn't "real" labor! I am 35w 4d, so he would be small but OK - I just want him to "bake" a little longer! I will update once whatever happens, happens!

Excited/Nervous...

Monday, June 2, 2008

I am sure all pregnant moms can relate to what I am feeling right now. It's oficially June, and I have 34 days left until Jake's due date - which I am sure he will not arrive directly "on". Since this is my second, and with the amount of BH contractions I have been having, I am fully expecting him to arrive early. With all that said, I am now overwhelmed with the thought that my new son is going to be here soon!

I am very excited to meet him, and can't wait for him to make his grand arrival - but am SO scared to be in labor again. For those who have no clue - IT HURTS - A LOT! I am planning on getting an epidural, but up until that point it's all me getting myself through the pain. Well, me and God - I expect to be praying a whole lot until I get paid meds. But, I have had a few contractions lately that hurt pretty good, and knowing what I have been through before with Brad, I know that it isn't even 10% of the pain I am going to be encountering here in a few weeks. It's really nervewracking. I have talked to Hans about it, and all he can really tell me is that "he'll be there for me" and "it's all worth it in the end". I know all that, and couldn't even fathom going throug this without his strength in there with me - but unfortunately it doesn't take away all the fears that I have.

Oh well. I guess this is something that I'm sure every mom must go through. I just need to hand it over to God fully and pray that much harder about. I need strength, courage, and comfort.

Thanks for listening to my vent!

Back Pain and a Traffic Ticket...

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

Yesterday I was having some horrible back pain that just wouldn't quit while I was at work, so I decided to leave work early (about noon). I was driving home, and was kind of zoned out by the uncomfortableness, but was following the flow of traffic like I normally do. Well, I am about 10 minutes from home when I hear a siren and look in my rear view. Yep, state trooper. So I got pulled over, and got a ticket for speeding. I was fine when he gave it to me - but the hormones kicked in and I started BAWLING when it was time to call my husband and tell him I just got a ticket... he was fine though and said "Stop crying so much - it'll be OK - don't stress out the baby - everyone gets speeding tickets at one time or another". So, this weekend will be online traffic school & then paying my ticket sometime next week.

On a lighter note, my back doesn't hurt nearly as bad today. Guess I got a good night's sleep last night.

I had a Dr's appt this morning and everything is as normal as can be. I gained 8lbs in 2.5 weeks. Yikes! But, the baby is gaining more weight now, and I am retaining water (hence the swelling in the feet), but she isn't worried. She said since my blood pressure is normal (110/80), there is no sign of preeclampsia, so just to elevate my feet as much as possible, drink plenty of water, and watch my sodium.

Only 39 days left until my due date!

Baby Shower + Disney World

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

Well, Saturday was the big baby shower! Thank to Lil and Kim for putting it together - it was so wonderful. Jake got a lot of gifts! He now has enough clothes to dress him and a small army, and we also got a lot of other things we needed. Here are some pictures from the big event...

Here are some of the pictures of the gifts that we received! Thank you SO MUCH to each and every person who came!

On Sunday, Lil, Tom, Hans, Brad, and I went to Disney's Hollywood Studios to ride the new "Toy Story Midway Mania" ride, then we went over to EPCOT for a while. Note to pregnant women: Disney World @ 8 months pregnant + 90 degree heat = Lots of swelling and SORE legs!!! On the flip side, I think Jake has now dropped. He is LOW!
Here is a picture from Hollywood Studios...

Memorial Day was pretty uneventful. I spent most of the day relaxing and recouperating from the Disney trip. Hans put away all of the clothes Jake received from the baby shower. Brad played with friends. We went to Wal-Mart to get some things we didn't receive at the shower. I napped. All in all it was a much needed day off!
Today I am 34w 2d pregnant. Only 40 more days until my due date!

No more wedding band!

Monday, May 19, 2008

Well, this past weekend the wedding band had to come off. My fingers have swollen enough to make it uncomfortable and difficult to wear when I am either standing for a long time, or when it is hot outside (which is all the time in FL!). So, the wedding band in now in the jewelry box along with the engagement ring. I had to wear something though, so I went to Wal-Mart and got a plain silver band for $15 that is bigger, so that I don't look completely unmarried!

Today marks 33w 1d of pregnancy. I just looked at my ticker, and I only have 48 days left. It is getting really close! We can't wait to meet Jake, and see what he looks like - and how BIG he is! :o)

Wow! Something new...

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Well, add something new to the list of 'things that occur in pregnancy'. My FEET are swelling! OMGoodness! I noticed it a few days ago, and Hans touched one of them and the imprint stayed for a few seconds... Ahhhhhhh!

Of course, thinking I am a freak of nature, I ask my DR on Monday at my appt. and she says it's perfectly normal, to watch my salt intake, and prop my feet up as much as possible. Fun times!

Add this to the heartburn, shortness of breath when doing anything, carrying Jake super low, exhaustion, and weight gain - and this is the best pregnancy EVER (*sarcasm*)! :o)

Today I am 32w 3d pregnant today - so only 53 more days left! Yippee!

The ring is off! One of them, anyway...

Monday, May 5, 2008

Well, the time had finally come! Sunday night at church I noticed my wedding rings were getting a little tight. I took them off and I could get my band back on, but not my engagement ring without a fight. So, the engagement ring is now in my jewelry box! So sad, but at least I can still wear my wedding band. At least I made it 31 weeks without taking it off!

In other pregnancy issues – my back is absolutely KILLING ME! At night I can hear and feel my lower back pop and pull when I turn from side to side. Thank goodness for Dr. Long – he aligns my back every Saturday, and even though it only lasts for a bit, it feels great for that short amount of time! Oh well, it’s all worth it in the end, right??

Right now it is 10:18am, and I am sitting here at work, doing nothing as usual! Jake has his routine morning hiccups, so that is occupying/amusing me right now. Today I am 31w 1d pregnant – only 8w 6d to go! My baby shower is also in 2w 5d – YAY!

Pregnancy Updates!

Monday, April 28, 2008

Today I had a doctor’s appointment – I am going every two weeks now! I saw Dr. McCain and I measured right at 30 weeks. I am now up to 156lbs (gasp!), which means I have gained a total of 23lbs since becoming pregnant so far. The doctor’s aren’t concerned, so I guess I shouldn’t be either!

Jake is growing like a weed. He has been getting the hiccups about two to three times a day recently, so that is interesting - especially when I am trying to work or sleep in the middle of the night.

It’s crazy to think that I am 30w 1d pregnant. This means I only have 9w 6d left until my due date (69 days!), and I can go earlier than that! WOW! Jake will be here very soon! J

Sick - BLAH!

Monday, April 7, 2008

Well, this past Saturday I seemed to have caught a nasty cold from someone. I have been miserable all weekend! I have been coughing like crazy, runny/stuffy nose, and it gets 10x worse when I am trying to go to sleep at night. Right now I am at work and my head feels like it is going to explode from the sinus pressure! I have taken two Tylenol and that hasn’t helped much at all. Hopefully this will go away really soon.
Also, today I am 27w 1d pregnant. I am officially in my THIRD trimester! 90 more days to go! YAY! (As Jake does a little jig and kicks me right now…) J

Jake had the hiccups!

Monday, March 31, 2008

I am sitting here at my desk, and my belly started twitching like crazy, at a constant rhythm. I think my little Jake just had his first bout of the hiccups! If not, oh well, but I like to imagine he did! He’s still on my right side right now, kicking & moving around…

On another note, our good friends Ashley & Nathan had their baby boy on March 20th, 2008! He was 4 days overdue! Needless to say, she had to be induced. Well, after countless hours of labor and several hours of pushing, Wesley Bennett Lorton made his debut! He weighed in at an astonishing 9lbs, 2ozs – and was 22.5” long! BIG BOY! Of course, Hans is now saying, “Let’s go for 9lbs 3ozs” – yeah right! Jakey and I have an agreement – he is not to be over 8lbs 8ozs tops!

Today I am 26w 1d pregnant. Only 97 more days to go – WOW!

Just Updating...

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Since my last entry the husband and I have purchased Jake’s bedding set (“Little MVP” from Babies R Us – so cute!), and ordered the dresser/changing table, glider & ottoman. This is the bedding set...

The dresser combo came in yesterday and my husband will probably put it together tomorrow on his day off. The glider will probably come in next week. Everything is coming together nicely! Today I am 21w 3d pregnant, and as I type he is kicking me and flipping around! He usually moves here and there during the day, but his real “hyper time” is between 8pm-10pm each night. That is when he really has a party in there! His other favorite activity is playing “kick the seatbelt” when I am driving to/from work. On another note, my good friend Ashley is currently 37w 3d pregnant, and is due March 16th. She had an appt yesterday and she is not dilated and is 30% effaced. We’re all very anxious to greet baby Wesley!

It's a BOY!!!

Thursday, February 14, 2008

I am so excited – today at 9:00am we had our ultrasound and found out that we’re having another little boy! We’re naming him Jacob Kristofor. I knew right away – as soon as the u/s tech put the wand on my stomach, I saw the “money shot” and she didn’t have to say anything. When she went back to that a couple minutes later, she did in fact confirm it was a “boy”. He measured great for where I am in the pregnancy (19w 4d), and no birth defects. Thank the Lord! I have also gained 8lbs since my last appointment, putting me currently at 137lbs.

I can’t wait to go make our registry at Babies R Us after work w/ my hubby & son!

Nine more days...

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

…Until we know if it is a girl or a boy! I am so excited. I can’t wait to go out and buy things that are either truly BOY or truly GIRL! I also will be excited to have a name pinned down (either Hannah Elisabeth or Jacob Kristofor).

Yesterday I got my good friend Ashley’s baby shower invite in the mail – VERY CUTE! Whod've thought we'd be preggers together? Anywho, it is blue with a brown trim, and the silhouette of a pregnant woman in white. Very trendy! It’s Tuesday, Feb. 19th, so I have two weeks to shop!

Daddy got to feel the baby move!

Friday, February 1, 2008

This is the moment that I have been waiting for anyway. For the past several days, the baby has been kicking like crazy towards the evening time, around 7-8pm, and My husband was either at work or the baby would stop as soon as his hand was on my stomach. The kicks have been very sporadic and hard to time, so it was understandable. Well last night was the season premiere of “Lost” after an 8 month hiatus, so we were sitting in bed watching the recap before the premiere to get caught up, when the baby started kicking like CRAZY! This was the most he/she has ever moved at one time before – guess he/she is a “Lost” fan! Anywho, I put his hand on my stomach, and he got to feel a small jab. A few minutes later the baby was kicking pretty hard, so I put his hand on there again and he got to feel a really hard one! It was really exciting – maybe more for me, but it was nice to be able to share what I have been ‘feeling’ with him finally!! It only took 17 weeks and 4 days!

WOW! He/She really KICKED!

Thursday, January 24, 2008

Last night I was sitting at the computer, listening to music when I started feeling little taps/flutters. No big deal, I had felt them before, so I just continued. About 8:00pm I got Brad in the bathtub, and I laid on the couch to watch a Tivo’d episode of “A Baby Story” that was taped while I was at work today. While I was watching, I felt a couple big POPS, and then when I pushed back, it POPPED again! Then he/she started their acrobatic tricks for a bit – it was so great!! I tried calling the husband but he didn’t answer (he was at work), so I called my best friend Ashley to tell her (she's also pregnant, but 16wks ahead of me). Then my husband finally called back and I told him. I’m so glad I am finally at this stage in my pregnancy! It’s so exciting… YAY!

Cravings!

Wednesday, January 23, 2008

Well today marks the 6th day in a row that I have had a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit from McDonald’s for breakfast. That is a SERIOUS craving if you ask me! It’s the first thing I think about when I wake up, and the baby seems to really enjoy it! I think it’s funny: With my first son I craved potatoes like crazy, and with this little one I am craving McD’s B.A.C. biscuits… How random!

The good thing about all this too is that I have not gotten sick since the pizza incident the other night. Yesterday I had McD’s for breakfast, Lenny’s ham & cheese sandwich w/ chips & lemonade for lunch, and jambalaya w/ sausage for dinner, and it alllllll stayed down!

22 days until we find out if it’s a boy or girl! I am also 16 weeks and 3 days pregnant. Last night I had to take out my navel ring because my navel is starting to “pop out”. Kind of a sad moment, but it just goes to show how much I am “showing” now! You can definitely tell I’m pregnant.

It's a Monday...

Monday, January 21, 2008

Today is Monday, MLK Day, and coming into work was kind of depressing! Everyone is off work/school, and the parking lot was empty when I got here. Oh well, what can ya do!

On the subject of my little “sea monkey”, the baby is doing great from what I can tell. I haven’t felt too much more movement, but still a little flutter/jab here and there. The kid seems to like car rides or me sitting certain ways, because that is when he/she is the most active. Never feel much if I am lying on my back as far as movement goes. I’m so impatient – I just want to feel huge kicks already!

The Hyperemesis is making its way out. This past week I haven’t gotten sick much at all. I did get sick last night, but that was because I ate 5 slices of pizza, then a couple hours later thought that some yogurt, a ½ an English muffin, and a glass of milk would go GREAT with that. Yeah, not so much.

YAY! He/She is moving!

Friday, January 18, 2008

Today I really started feeling “flutters” from the baby. It feels like little pops here and there. I thought I have been feeling them the past few days, but I am noticing them more and more as time goes on. Yes, I had an iced coffee from McD’s this morning, so maybe the kiddo is just hyper! I have also noticed that I can totally see/feel my uterus when I lie on my back – it’s insane! I can also feel the baby roll around a bit if I put my hand on there. I can’t wait to find out if it is a boy or a girl. I kind of think it’s a girl, but we’ll see on Valentine’s Day! This Sunday I will be 16 weeks pregnant.

I am starting to feel much better. I went back to work on Monday and have been able to make it through the week no problem. Everyone has been real supportive of what I have gone through and is happy to have me back.

I am able to keep a lot more foods down. Last night I got a craving for shrimp pasta, and ate a good sized bowl full and didn’t get sick. This morning I had a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit from McD’s and have managed to keep that down as well!
